Hi, my name is Masood. I am from Pakistan and if any of you have in-depth knowledge of our culture, you will understand the problems we are going through.
I belong from a very well-off family (billionaires), they have multiple businesses, well settled and can afford every luxury of life. Let me start with my life-story so that you understand what I am about to tell you.
Back in 2009 I told my parents that there is a girl I was seeing and that we were in love, my parents listened to every word I had to say and they did not like the idea of seeing their son fall in love and marry someone whom they did not approve of. I kept trying to make them understand my feelings for her but they refused simply. She was the one I could only think of and we were compatible, in short, I saw my ideal life partner in her. Things went on like this for two years during which I was sent to Dubai (University of Wollongong in Dubai) for higher studies. My wife and I, we stayed connected and had a long-distance relationship.
In the year 2011, my wife told me that her parents wanted her to get married and were already looking for suitable proposals. I could not even think of loosing her, and that is when I decided to get married to her. We got married on the 1st of March 2011. I did not tell my family right away, waited for a few months to find the right moment and on the 3rd or 4th of August I told my family that I had married her and we she was with me in Dubai.
My family immediately stopped all financial support and left me to be on my own. For a few months we tried to manage but due to high cost of living in Dubai we had to move back to Pakistan, leaving my studies in the middle. I went back to my family, involved my grand mother and asked them for forgiveness that I hurt them. My parents (father) said that she would never be allowed to come to their house, and they will not support me at all. Upon intervention from my grand mother, they agreed to give a certain amount ($200) per month to support myself and my wife.
I went back to my wife and told her about all this. She asked me to start looking for a job so that we could manage things in a respectable way. Since I had no money with me I was forced to live at my in-law's place, and manage. Time went by, my wife got pregnant and God Al-Mighty blessed us with a beautiful daughter. I told my parents about our baby but they did not show any interest in meeting the new born.
After a few months, my parents called me one day and asked to come see them. In that meeting they said that I should go back to Dubai to complete my studies and my wife was to stay at her parent's. After long consideration, we (me & my wife) agreed to their terms and I went back to Dubai. Time went by, During those 2 years that I was away from home, we managed to rent a separate place and in the limited amount of money I had, we managed as best as we could. According to UAE laws, we were not allowed to work on Student visa due to which I completely depended on the support from my parents i.e. $1000/month. I had to manage my personal expenses (food, travelling etc) in Dubai, and send some money home to my wife and daughter. I used to keep $250 and send $750 to my wife.
In the year 2014, I returned back to Pakistan after completing my studies. My family had still not accepted my wife and were in the same mood as they were earlier. Since my daughter was two and a half years then, I went straight to my parents asking them to help me with starting a business so that I could afford a good living standard for my kids and lead a respectable life. They promised to give me a start but they had something else in their mind. They said they would me a certain amount of money to start business but I had to divorce my wife, leave my daughter, move back home and get married again to a girl of their choice. I could never imagine leaving my wife or daughter for the sake of money, and I refused their offer. Things did not get better, I started a job in Islamabad, and life went by. I asked my relatives to help me by talking to my parents and getting me a certain amount of money for a start.
it has been 3 years now that my family has been stalling this as they want me to leave her. Our daughter is now 5 years of age, she is school going and is in class Prep. We still live in a rented house, which I am not sure how long I can afford as the expenses are increasing day-by-day. We had a few savings which we used to start a furniture store out of our home, and we are seeing a good response.
I am extremely helpless at raising funds, I am $7000 under debt, our daughter is growing up and I don't see a way of raising funds. Some how I came to know that there are websites where you can appeal to people to help you raise funds for your project. Now we are running a furniture store out of our home, we sell home-furniture and are seeing a good response from the market but we need $10,000 for a proper start-up with a retail shop ($2000), $5,000 to invest in goods and $3,000 as working capital.
I don't see any other way of raising capital for now, and that is why I am here to ask you all for helping me in this situation. I hope things get better me and my parents one day but that does not seem to be anywhere in near future.
I need your help in raising the finance we need.
