'Like That' at Sunshine House started out 3 years ago as a drop-in for 2SLGBTTQIA+ folks that weren't being served elsewhere - we started with a tiny seed grant and a bunch of crossed fingers that people would actually come. And, over the past several years not only have people shown up, but we have become a family, a motley crew full of love and heart for our community.

We keep the place open with blood, sweat, tears and more hustle than the 70's.

Between Drag Queen Taco Delivery, Drop-in, Bingos, Balls, Queer Asylum Seeker support, and the day to day care and love we have for each other you would think that we have our hands full, and you would be right. But, we can't help it, we have a lot of ideas, y'all.

This year we, along with 'The Two-Spirit People Of Manitoba', have been inspired to put together a Two-Spirit Pow-Wow that celebrates our community and honours the important Traditional role of Two Spirit people across Turtle Island. This Pow-Wow is the heart project of some of the Two-Spirit Like That participants who wanted to bring the energy of the Two Spirit gatherings that they have attended over the years to Winnipeg, for Pride.

The Two-Spirit Pow-Wow will help bring Winnipeg Pride 2017's theme to life - to celebrate and put those of us who have not always felt a part of this celebration at the front, and to connect all of us with one another to strengthen our community.

So, we need your help to make this Pow-Wow happen in the best and most loving way possible. We have been organizing this thing since last fall and we are ready - the jingle dresses are jingling and the drums are coming. This beautiful event is happening on May 26th at the Forks, Treaty 1 Territory, in the heart of Metis Nation and it is gonna be Fabulous!

We have been putting this together with virtually no money and a ton of favors called in, which is how we do everything at 'Like That'. We are now coming to you, our community to help get the funds we need to pull this off in the most fierce and beautiful way. We are hoping to raise 10k in the next couple of weeks so that we can show our community how proud we are of our culture and our role as Two Spirit people, and how, by welcoming everyone, we demonstrate the very best of our community.

No donation is too small (or too big). Funds are used to welcome the drum groups and dancers, to provide feast food for the Pow-Wow and honorariums for the drummers, dancers and Elders.

 Most importantly, please consider this your official invitation to come out to the Two-Spirit Pow-Wow on the 26th! Everyone is welcome and if you have never been to a pow wow, this is the one to come out to, trust.
