Introducing Nesta Collars: The All-In-One Gadget for dogs, cats and more

Growing up as a pet lover in New York, Kenny ONLY used to hear of stories of pets and more specifically dogs being used as “Baits” in Dog fights until April 2014 when his best friend ‘Nesta’ was taken from him.

On the 24th of April, Kenny came home to find his dog, NESTA, a pit-bull missing from its usual place, the backyard. After one week of unfruitful search, Kenny learnt through NBC [on 2nd May] that The Paterson police and animal control officers had rescued three pit bulls from a carwash which was being used as ground for dog fights and that, his lost dog was amongst them. He would later discover that at the time of the rescue, Nesta was still alive but later succumbed to injuries incurred during the ordeal. It was to be known later that Nesta’s snout was wrapped with duct tape to prevent it from injuring the other dogs that were being trained for fighting. Its front teeth were ground down to the gums to render him helpless against fighting dogs.

After this traumatizing incident, Kenny swore that he will live to protect animals to his full capacity. In New York, other animals, such as cats and rabbits are also reported to be used as "baits" for fighting dogs. Experts have said small dogs, kittens, and rabbits are more at risk of being stolen for bait than larger animals.

These pet thieves commonly use "Adoption Wanted" or "Good Home Needed" signs and posters to track their "bait" which is used in the training for these "fighters". The "bait" is mauled or killed in the process. More often "bait" animals are stolen pets.

In honor of his lost Friend and Hero Nesta, Kenny set out to open a pet safety store, ‘SMART PETS’ and started working on The Nesta Collar brand: The All-In-One Gadget for dogs, cats and more. Six months down the line, the Nesta brand design is now complete, awaiting production.
