John MacCallum hasn't added a story.
Who is Gerald O'Donnell? Why does he need your financial assistance? How can you help?
Gerald "Jerry" O'Donnell is a former police officer and retired private investigator with an indisputable and impeccable record of service. He is a family man, a role model, an upstanding member of the community, and a man who believes in justice for the innocent.
Through his tireless efforts, Jerry helped exonorate two innocent men (Ronald Taylor and George Gould) after they were wrongfully incarcerated for a 1993 murder they didn't committ. But their time away from prison was short lived as a corrupt Connecticut State Prosecutor was determined to hold them responsible - and did. More on Jerry in a minute.
The state's murder case against Ron and George hinges solely on the testimony of a former prostitute and drug addict who has changed her story multiple times and admitted to lying under oath. No other evidence was ever found that linked Ron and George to the murder.
Enter Gerald O'Donnell. Jerry was the private investigator who spent years selflessly and, ultimately, successfully pursuing justice for Ron and George when a judge overturned their sentence in 2009. Shortly thereafter, both Ron and George were ordered back to prison. Jerry was wrongly accused of bribing the former prostitute "witness" and was tried, convicted, and sentenced to 4 years in prison by the state Prosecutor. While George remains incarcerated, Ron regrettably passed away from cancer in October of 2011.
So why do the New Haven Police Department, the State of Connecticut Prosecution, and others want George and Jerry behind bars? The better question is, "who are they really trying to protect?"
The theory is this - the 1993 murder of a New Haven store owner was not committed by Ron or George, but rather by the murdered man's own son. That son also happened to be a high ranking gang member and police informant who was embezzeling money from his own father's business. He had the motive and the will to kill his father but was oddly never considered by the state to be a suspect in the murder.
How Can You Help?
At the present time, the State of Connecticut will not grant Gerald O'Donnell the right to a Public Defendant to appeal his case. At the same time, Jerry does not possess sufficient means to proceed with an appeal. With an attorney already secured and willing to fight for Jerry, we turn to you for help. A $10, $15, $20 donation is all we're asking for. Please know that every bit helps in the fight against injustice that occurs where you may least expect it. Thank you for your generosity.
