We came up with this idea as a means to bring together all those that
wish to help get Andy back on track, independent and mobile under his
own steam. As many of you know, he isn't getting much help (if any at
all) from the physios and OT''s and the visit from the NHS wheelchair
guy came to no fruition either. Every which way he turns, Andy is
getting slapped in the face and his determination flags that little
bit more. This man is a fighter, for you, for me, for Scotland, but he
is beginning to give up hope that he will ever be self reliant again.
So, with that being said, we would like to try and raise the funds to
enable him to purchase the wheelchair that is going to benefit him the
most. He needs a light weight chair for starters, one he can easily
fold and manage by himself and these do not come cheap.
We are
still looking at various designs and throwing ideas at him, having
been a wheelchair user myself, i have some first hand knowledge of
what designs are suitable and what not and with speaking to him, i
have gleaned a lot more. Andy would be the first to offer help to
anyone if the roles were reversed. He has helped out many people in
the past but would never ask for it himself. He has had no help from
the local council and disappointingly none from our local MP.
