Our "Star Trek" colony is so large it has broken up into multiple sub-colonies. According to neighbours, we had such a mild winter this year that many more juvenile cats survived than have survived in previous years. At the same time, their food supply is being reduced. At least 15 cats are heavily pregnant, with 75 babies expected in the next 7-14 days. This colony is in trouble if we can't manage its growth and help these cats.
We have already trapped and spayed/neutered 17 cats since we began this project in late February 2015. We relocated a bonded pair to a barn where they will be well cared for. We are keeping one cat who is heavily pregnant, and are fostering her so she can have her babies in a safe environment.
Because we have discovered so many more cats in this colony than were origininally reported, we need your help to spay/neuter as many as possible before the next round of pregnancies occur. Each cat costs us approximately $100 to spay/neuter, and we are spending about $15 a day to feed them.
