As part of Camp Walter’s gift to the Burning Man community at large, this year camp elders have decided that we need to create a greater presence from our camp rather than relying primarily on our art cars as our form of participation. This is in large part due to the fact that Burning Man has given us placement near the Esplanade this year with a note that in order to maintain that placement in the future we need to make a big splash with our camp and really step it up! We intend to do this by keeping our bar open for much of the day gifting drinks to passers by. To facilitate this we have come up with 2 drinks, the Stinky Pinky for Anna’s Hot Pink Happy Hour and the Rosey Palm for all of the remaining days of the week.

Stinky Pinky is a fancy concoction containing Gin, Aperol, Grapefruit Juice and Bitters. Rosey Palm is a Jamaica Lemonade with vodka. In past years we have all brought bottles and gifted these to the bar. While this system allowed maximum creativity, it also made it difficult to establish shifts and standard recipes for the bar. This year we hope to raise $5,000 cash to fund Stinky Pinky’s, Rosey Palms, Whipped Lightning, water, and ice. This will streamline our bar operation allowing us to be more steady. It should also make it better on individuals logistically since we can order pallets of booze and mixers and transport them with camp equipment.

In order to pull this off we will be making 40 gallons of Stinky Pinky for the Hot Pink Party and will also be suppling lots of whipped lightning. Additionally we will be making 150 gallons of Rosey Palm. Plus we will be gifting ice water throughout the burn!

We will also be operating an evaporative cooler in the World Lounge during the hottest parts of the day.

So here’s the breakdown, $5000 dollars seems like a lot right? Well, not when you consider how large our camp has grown. It actually works out to an average of $25 per person. So some of us may be able to contribute say $100 dollars while some may be able to contribute $10. I just ask that you do what you can to help Camp Walter live up the the expectations of the Burning Man organization while gifting to your fellow burners.
