Raine is urgently in need of surgery to repair a diaphragmatic peritoned pericardial hernia. His liver is currently resting in his chest cavity. This is a rare type of hernia and requires a boarded surgeon to repair. Raine was also diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease and is suffering from malabsorption and is losing weight very quickly.

Raine is my "first born". He was given to me by my first serious boyfriend when he was two months old in 2002. He was my Christmas present. Raine has been with me through multiple serious relationships, different groups of friends, and many moves. At one point, Raine and I lived in my car. When I met John, I asked him how he felt as a step-father to Raine. They love each other very much.

In the midst of rescue, we have exhausted our resources and never really thought about the fact that one of our own could develop medical issues that would need such specific treatment. We have already spent $1,000 since June 25th to diagnose both issues and we understand that the amount we are requesting is outlandish but we humbly ask for help. Anything and everything will help.

We are doing a two week trial of meds for the IBD. If he doesn't gain a decent amount of weight in that time, Dr. Aguirre recommends we do a biopsy at an estimated $2,000. Once he has weight on him, we can move forward with the hernia repair, an estimated $4,000 surgery.

Raine is extremely important to us. He is not old enough for us to give up on.
