On November 17,2012 Owen's life was changed forever. he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, which can be life threatening and can cause organ and tissue damage if not managed properly. Owen is a seven year old boy who loves to play outdoors with his brothers. He unfortunately cannot feel when his blood sugar is too low until he is in crisis and is unable to use a continuous glucometer. We have started training a diabetic alert dog, Shamus. Shamus will be able to alert Owen to changes in his blood sugars and allow Owen to be safer when he is at school, at home and at play. shamus is doing very well so far but we need to raise more money to cover the cost of his training at Canine Helpers for the Handicap in Lockport, NY. Please help us reach our goal and help Owen live a safe and healthy life!!!
