Valarie Hagler hasn't added a story.
Thank you for reading this. On 02/14/2014 my 38yr old husband went to the ER with chest pains, shortness of breath, severe swelling and an overnight weight gain of 6lbs. They told us he had congestive heart failure. Happy Valentine's day!
On 02/24/2014 we found out through a dual heart catheterization that he has a 10% Ejection Fraction. This means that his heart is only pumping out 10% of what it is taking in. His heart is enlarged and the walls of his heart are thickened so his heart has lost muscle function. They call it Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
He had been fairly healthy until this diagnosis, it came completely out of the blue. As I am sure you can imagine, the thought of leaving behind your wife and 8 year old daughter is extremely difficult for all of us.
He has been given a Zoll Life Vest, which is a wearable defibrillator that will automatically detect when his heart stops and shock him until it starts beating again, because with this type of heart problem he could die from sudden cardiac failure.
He has began a routine of heart muscle improving amino acids and other OTC supplements to try to correct this problem, but ultimately if it doesn't work he will hopefully be getting a Heart Transplant.
Thankfully I was the one with insurance through an employer because he is no longer able to work like he used to, but my job is a miniscule one that does not pay enough to support my family.
We really could use some help financially and we have no where to turn. I will happily provide any documentation that anyone would like to see to confirm this tragedy that has become our life.
At the moment I am only trying to raise a little money so that I can relieve the stress it is causing him as he watches us slip behind on our bills and pile up more from doctor visits and medications. If we are moving to heart transplant stage I will be looking for more assistance, as this procedure is not cheap.
If you would prefer to send the supplements:
listed below is what his is taking in addition to the $65 a month we spend on prescription medications. I have listed the dosages per day next to each supplement. I can provide a mailing address to send those to as well.
Thank you.
Vitamin E 50mg
Potassium 800mg
Magnesium Aspartate or Magnesium Orotate 200mg
CoQ10 Ubinquinol 400mg
L-Arginine 5600-12,600mg
Creatine 20,000mg
Vitamin C 4000-10,000mg
Hawthorne Berries 565mg
Thought I should add as someone asked me if we had applied for SSD.
Well, he doesn't have enough work credits so he is not eligible. Let me explain.
July 2005 our daughter was born and he stayed at home to raise her as it was not beneficial for him to go to work and for us to pay somene else to raise our child.
Then in August 2011, just when our child was to start school, Adrian contracted tetanus and spend a month in ICU. He was the first case in 60 years in our area. They say he had full blown tetanus and expected him to die. His back still hurts so badly that some days he had trouble even getting out of bed so he never got back into the workforce completely.
We can apply for SSI, however, they say it could take 6 months minimum to receive an approval or a denial.
