The Secular Democratic Maldives Movement is a collective of concerned Maldivian citizens and well-wishers working on a collaborative platform to counter the radical Islamisation of the Maldives.
The Maldives is a small non-manufacturing, tourism dependant country that needs to have good relations with the international community for its survival.
Secular Democratic Maldives Movement operates as an online activist group creating dialogue among the youth, providing information, news, ideas and discussions on humanism and secularism and a sense of community in a society that is being increasingly being pressurised to confirm to a foreign way of life which is slowly eradicating the native culture and way of life.
We hope to combat the increasing radicalisation by providing a counter narrative in the public spear. By supporting this project, you're helping us do just that. We want to impact and change the dialogue in the Maldives towards a more reasoned secular humanistic world view.
We propose to raise a bare minimum of $1000 over the next year on an ongoing basis. To continue our grassroots movement, we need to your help to pay for some professional services relating to content creation, translating, Facebook marketing, etc.
We are NOT working with any corporate/independent sponsors to achieve our goals. We believe taking corporate sponsorship impacts our goals and editorial policy negatively. That is where we need YOUR help to meet our crowd funding goals.
