Lauren McMullen hasn't added a story.
Kane, our rescue from the SPCA when he was 3 months old has brought pure joy to our lives and everyone's he's met since the day we brought him home. We are asking for help in getting him an urgent surgery called Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotmy, a surgery to repair his damaged left hind knee and give him full use of the leg again so he can go back to his lively, loving and energetic self. Without this surgery Kane will never be able to run or play in the park with us or other dogs, he will be restricted to leashed walks only and will have to avoid stairs for the rest of his life. No more cottage trips or squirrel chasing. Eventually his leg will become lame as the ligaments will tear completely and the weight of his body will be too much for the leg to carry.
We have been blessed with this gentle giant, he has been a best friend, a shoulder to cry on, a warm body to cuddle a guardian and a constant source of fun and entertainment. I dont think I would every refer to Kane as our pet, because he is much, much more than that.
When we had our son, Kane was very curious, but never aggressive or jealous when we brought Jackson home from the hospital. The first chance he got he gave Jackson a huge wet lick, which at the time covered his tiny little face. From that point on Kane and Jackson have been buds, In fact over the past two years, Kane has let Jackson use him as his personal climbing toy, even when he just wants to sleep.
This big baby had a rocky start to his young life when he contracted a deadly parasite just weeks after he was first adopted (the first time) and returned to the SPCA. The dedicated and amazing staff at the SPCA were able to nurse him back to health so he would be ready to go to a new home. That's where we come in. From the moment we laid eyes on Kane we knew he was meant to join our family.
Kane injured his knee at the end of the summer causing him to severly limp. When we took him to the vet he was given meds and we were told to rest him and restrict any activity other than necessary bathroom walks. My husband has been carrying our 140lbs Kane up and down our front steps since the injury to try and alleviate any weight and pain caused by the climbing. We are asking for any help with paying for this very necessary and urgent surgery and are beyond appreciative and grateful for anything.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Kanes Mum and Dad
