Ayra was rushed to the ER vet last night. She was disorientated, stumbling and fell over at one point. Ayra's gums were very pale and she was uninterested in food or water. (Ayra is kept indoors like all of our pets, so its not heat stroke.) Dr. Wyatt ran a blood panel and preformed a battery of tests. Unfortunately we have no diagnosis yet for Ayra. She is anemic and dehydrated. She had a fever of 104.9 at intake. Right now, Ayra's stomach is too distended for the vet to get a good view of her other organs with xray. The most likely culprits right now are pyometra or a blockage. Also a possibility of tick-borne illness. The good news is she seems to be responding well to the fluids and pain meds - she is more alert and engaged with the staff. They monitored her over night at the ER vet and she was moved to one of our regular vets this morning. We will keep everyone posted as I have updates.

Ayra's bill from last night’s procedure was $1039.95. Well more than what we had available. MPBF relies solely on donations. I feel like in the past month we have begged and pleaded constantly for funds. The truth is, we've had some really big medical bills. Unexpected bills like Ayra's make us scramble and its quite stressful. Lately we had to resort to paying for rescue items personally which is something we can't afford to do. If you can’t donate, please share!!
