We help families in Dago, Kenya start their own bee farm businesses and break their cycle of poverty. Even small contributions make a huge difference. Please help us help them
The Dago Project was initiated in August 2011. Dago is a rural village in Western Kenya and home to over 3000 households. Project Dago represents the possibilities of creating change through the positive power of business on an international basis. By doing so we are breaking the cycle of poverty that many of these families encounter enabling them to feed their children on a regular basis and gain the ability to afford their children’s education.

One of our biggest initiatives in this project is our beekeeping initiative. After conducting a needs assessment, we noticed that villagers were burning bee hives to extract honey. As a result, the population of bees was on the decline, resulting in a significant reduction in their crops and a shortage of honey.

Spotting this new opportunity in Kenya, we launched the Dago Beekeepers Association, where we educated and mentored 10 villagers on how to start and expand their own bee farm businesses. They have now successfully established 4 beehives, which has provided a new source of revenue for the households, a source of food and has increased crop yields within the community creating a fully sustainable business.

With your donation, we can expand this project to include more villagers as well as expand it to nearby villages on our trip this July.
