Help us battle proposed pipelines and mines in WI, MINN and MI. We stand with the Standing Rock, ND efforts for clean water, while opposing both the Extreme Extraction of Fossil Fuels, Open Pit Mines and huge Concentrated Animal Farm Operations (CAFOs). More ...

We are Great Lakes activists who for decades have stood to protect the water and environmental resources by opposing big corporate projects of extreme extraction, huge open pits, tar sands, concentrated animal and manure factories (CAFOs) and the transfer of foreign oil through ceded territory used by hunters, foragers and fishers.

This fundraising site helped raise money for the LCO Tribes's Harvest Educational Learning Project (HELP) for several years, before the mining company decided to pull out of the project. We rejoice at the anticipation of other corporations announcing the same.

In our region Pipelins #5 crosses the Bad River and Reservation (the line that burst on the Kalamazoo River in Michigan a few years ago), and current lines #13, #61, #6A and Line #14 t cross reservation lands and watersheds at the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Reservation. Additonally, Enbridge proposes a newer line, bigger then the Keystone XL called Twin Line #66.

Also facing our region is a mining company's proposed Back Forty Open Pit sulfide mine on the Menominee Nation's birthplace and historic wild rice district near Menominee, Michigan & Marinette Wisconsin.

Please help us protect the water. The Dakota Access pipeline is just one new pipeline proposal of many, and current pipelines continue to present immediate dangers to rivers, lakes and local communities. While the Standing Rock stand-off is essential, and spiritually uplifting, and we continue to assist in supporting and winterizing them, we hope to also focus local energy on local issues as well.
