So… Let us tell you a bit about Jordyn.
He is 17…
He is awesome…
He is just like any other 17-year-old kid
Well – that’s not quite true.
In all honesty, those who know him think he is a bit more awesome!
Another thing you should know about Jordyn is that he was born with a form of Dwarfism…. and he really wants to go to the ‘Little People of America’ (LPA) Conference that is to be held in Washington, DC this summer.

As cool… and charming… and witty… as Jordyn may be, he has faced challenges throughout his life as he has endured chronic pain, multiple surgeries, negative and ignorant attention in public, and sadly even taunts and threats.

We all know that being a teenager is tough… but Jordyn has faced additional obstacles and judgment that have affected his self-image.

Jordyn’s wonderful Mom, Jane, has struggled with severe and debilitating arthritis and worked diligently to keep herself in the workplace as long as possible, but is no longer able to do so.

So – because she wanted her son to see that they could be empowered to make great things happen – Jane and others in the community – set out to support Jordyn in reaching his goal to attend this summer’s LPA conference.

"Little People of America” is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with dwarfism throughout their lives while celebrating with great pride Little People’s contribution to social diversity. LPA strives to bring solutions and global awareness to the prominent issues affecting individuals of short stature and their families."

Attending this conference will be an empowering experience for Jordyn. He will have the opportunity to be around others who are like him, and to experience the feeling of community and belonging that are not necessarily an everyday experience for him.

And too – he will have to the opportunity to connect with adults and mentors in the LP community and be well set on the road of self-determination and empowerment. He will learn about self-advocacy and have the opportunity to build pride and confidence as he transitions into adulthood.

Fundraising for the conference has been an amazing experience… lots of people have stepped up to support this young man and his mother and help them achieve this goal.

Jordyn is almost there… but not quite…
The trip from Vancouver to Washington is now funded – as is the conference fee and the hotel.

Jordyn now needs to raise about $1550.00 more for the return trip.

If you are able to contribute, even the smallest amount will make a difference and be very much appreciated.
