On November 4, 2012, my brother-in-law John Mansfield, lost his brave battle against brain cancer at the age of 35. My sister Nicola (his widow) had become pregnant with his twins through in-vitro fertilization six weeks before he passed away. She has since referred to her twins as "ninja babies"!
Quite unbelieveably, Nicola found out in January this year that she also had a brain tumor. Fortunately, hers was benign but no less worrisome as it was growing quickly. On Valentine's Day 2013, Nicola's neurosurgeon performed a 7 hour operation to remove the tumor. 95% was removed successfully. In the process, Nicola lost her hearing in her left ear, suffered what we hope will be temporary facial paralysis and also difficulty closing her left eye. Over time she should recover almost completely.
We are asking for help to pay for airline tickets from the US to England this summer to fulfill my sister's wish to have all of us there after the birth of her twins. She will need a lot of help as she goes back in to hospital for radiation therapy to blast the remaining 5% of her tumor.
We have already covered two trips back to England in the past six months and are having trouble covering the rest. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
