🚗 Help Carol Restore Black Betty – A Dream Worth Fighting For 💖
I’m writing to ask for your support for someone very special: my dear friend, Carol Odenko. Carol is fighting an incredibly tough battle every single day. She’s living with a Chronic Autoimmune Disease that mimics Leukemia, requiring weekly chemo 💊, along with severe nerve damage, and Type 1 Diabetes 🩺. These challenges have taken so much from her, including her ability to work. But despite it all, Carol’s love for classic cars 🚘 and photography 📸 keeps her spirit alive.
Carol’s dream has always been to restore her beloved FJ, Black Betty 🖤. For her, it’s more than a car—it’s a piece of joy, a connection to her passion, family ancestors and a reason to keep going. But financial struggles have made this dream extremely out of reach, due to illness.
Carol and her husband managed to save $7,000 to start the restoration a few years ago, but sadly, the money was mishandled, advice given was incorrect, and the work ended up not being done correctly, leaving them heartbroken 💔 and leaving Black Betty still in need of major repairs.
That’s when my partner Kevin from Show N Shine Panel & Paint, and our talented panel beater friend Cliff stepped in. They stripped the FJ down to bare metal, worked tirelessly on the body, and restored the body back to new with love and care ❤️. The joy on Carol’s face when she saw the care painted for the first time was priceless, but there’s still more work to do.
Black betty needs a rewire, interior hood lining fitted, and many final touches to make Black Betty roadworthy, but the cost—which could be over $10,000—is far beyond what Carol can afford.
