After the devastating events of the COV-19 plague, the descendants of Vault 131 left their Vault seeking a brighter future. After myriad trials and tribulations, their journey lead them to a strange new world; utterly foreign and thoroughly engaging. Some didn't make it sadly, and we'll drink to their memory. Those that remain have gathered into two factions to celebrate the amazing geek culture of this Ready Player One universe.
Meet The Basement:
Inspired by Aech's Basement in the novel Ready Player One, this space is an immersive trip into the basement nerd culture of the late 70's-90's. Open daytime hours, we'll be serving coffee with options for add-ins such as sweeteners, syrups, and dairy/non-dairy creamers. We'll have mini boxes of cereal and milks. We'll also be offering Bloody Marys and a mimosa inspired cocktail. We'll be playing nostalgic "cannon" movies and TV shows all weekend as well as have some cassettes available for those looking for a retro music sesh. There will be some fun fan references and easter eggs for those familiar with the book.
Meet Archaide:
Archaide is a planet in the Oasis, (for those unfamiliar - the Oasis is a VR immersion environment basically representing the internet). Archaide is a barren surface comprised of vector graphics (an old style of video game graphics used in the 80's to give a three dimensional effect to a game). The planet is in perpetual darkness and some of the only surface features are a large volcano (which stays to the north no matter where you are) and multiple entrances to the inner parts of the planet. The inside of the planet is mostly comprised of vintage arcade cabinets. Some Oasis u sers have come to the planet and have coded their childhood arcade gaming spots within Archaide.
Our Archaide will be reminiscent of old arcades. We'll have at least one actual gaming cabinet, as well as some old consoles available for use. We'll also have Pizza available around lunch time and some fun decorations in keeping with the theme.
