ABOUT ME: I’m an early childhood educator, nationally-recognized Indigenous dance and theatre artist and social activist. I’m a mom, and until three years ago I was a lifelong renter. As a self-employed artist and parent I want to be a voice for the concerns of young families and local businesses who need affordable housing, commercial space and child care. I am about nourishing and protecting the intangible wealth of our city: our children, our cultural identity, our natural environment, and the creative energy of our artists, entrepreneurs and business people.
WHY I'M RUNNING: I’m running because I’m worried that there is a disconnect between the desires of city residents and how issues are handled at City Council. I’m concerned that guidelines set forward in the OCP are not being followed and that public input is being set aside to streamline the approval process for developers. I'm running to ensure that the voices of concerned citizens like me are heard.
WHY VOTE FOR ME?: Diversity is strength. I am a new voice bringing a new vision to our municipal government. Even if you disagree with my views and priorities, I still ask for your vote on the principle that the strength of our democracy is forged through diversity, opposition and adversity. A vote for me ensures that every decision made by City Council will be informed by my compassion for local residents, my conscience to do what is right over what is lucrative or expedient, and my accountability to both the present and the future for all of our relations.
