Hello,

My name is Amber Demarest I set this Champaign up on behalf of my oldest sister Angel Salas and her family. Angel is currently hospitalized at banner University Medical Center where she has been on a ventilator for the past 5months.She is suffering from organ failure and internal bleeding from an unknown illness.What Angel is going through is scary because of the unknown we dont know what the outcome is going to be we have no idea why shes so sick.Her illness came out of nowhere I went to lunch with angel 3weeks prior to her being admitted to icu and she was a happy healthy 42year old mother/grandmother who was working full time to provide for her family.She was a little tired and had loss her appetite so she was starting to lose a little weight but nothing to concerning. So when I got the call saying Angel had been admitted to icu and they we not sure if she would make it I was in complete shock.And that was just the beginning of this nightmare.Of course when we got the call we rushed to be by Angels side Walking in I knew what room Angel was in so the nurse buzzed us in and I went and walked straight to Angels room at least the room I thought she was in but the women on the bed hooked up to the ventilator was at least 100lbs lighter then angel she was so weak and fragile her hair was thinner,she couldnt even lift her head or arms. I must have heard the room wrong so I walked back out of the room and went to ask where my sister was at because she was suppose to be in room 202 the nurse kind of gave me a weird look and stood up to go look.And she said "yes thats her in the chair room 202."I just broke down I didnt believe my eyes how after only 3weeks did I not recognize her.She looked like a completly different person. But it was her her body had shut down it stopped absorbing nutrition and nutrients so even with her feeding tube they put in she was starving to death. She was recieving blood transfusions and dialysis daily.The doctors have ran every test they can think of blood work, biopsy on her organs, spinal tap, bone marrow they even had a team of  rare and infectious disease specialist come out to run test but everything has come up negative its now been 5 long months and we still have no idea why Angels so sick. Angel still has months of hospitalization and physical therapy ahead of her and a lot of really hard work to make a recovery but we know with god by her side she will make a full recovery.

We are hoping to raise enough money to help cover her long term medical care,travel expense and to help pay the monthly household bills untill angel is back to work and can do so herself. 

With the medical bills Angel out of work and her husband having to miss hours of work to be by Her side they just are not making it the financial burden her illness has put on her family has been overwhelming please help me help them lessen their burden just a little so they can breath easier and focus on angels recovery and spending as much time together as possible.
