Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, my family has fought tooth and nail to stay together. We have faced homelessness, abuse, hunger, health problems, legal troubles...lots and lots of nasty things. Once again, we’re fighting to stay together. Luckily this time it’s just a matter of money.
We are a family of three people - Tzipora (mom), Mae (daughter), and Jo (son) - and four puppies - Roxy, Rolly, Mojo, and Ziva. After exhausting all our savings to move across the country for Mae’s health we found ourselves in even more dire straits than we’d imagined. The job Tzipora thought was solid disappeared when the CEO took off without paying people or explaining what was happening. We got back on our feet, and then all three of us were catapulted headlong into a PTSD nightmare when Tzipora’s ex-husband was arrested for child pornography. A year later, he began suing her in civil court and although one case was thrown out as having no merit, he hit her with a second, nearly identical lawsuit in a different jurisdiction. $11,000+ later, we can only assume it was to drain us financially and punish her for speaking out after his arrest. While he has failed miserably in his efforts to punish us for speaking our truths, he has unfortunately succeeded in draining our financial resources. To make matters worse, our landlord has decided to sell the house we’ve been renting and we have to move. All of our money has been going to legal costs, and all of our credit is maxed out for the same reason. There are no savings to dip into anymore. We were counting on renewing the lease in October, but now we’re month-to-month. At any point, we could be given 30 days to get out.
Mae is physically disabled with a 10lb weight lifting limit, and nursing a torn ligament in her right hand. Tzipora works 80+ hours a week across multiple jobs and has arthritis in her hands. Jo works full time in retail on his feet all day. All our closest friends and family are 2,500 miles away. We need HELP!!
We need to hire movers, possibly people to help us pack, and professional cleaners. We have to buy boxes and packing materials. We need money for a security deposit on a new rental. And we have absolutely NO idea how much time we have - we haven’t been given a date for when we need to be out of the house. The anxiety of not knowing how we’ll make this happen or how much time we have to do it is terrifying. Anything you can do to help will be deeply appreciated.
