Dennis TeBoekhorst was larger than life, full of joy and passion for the things that mattered most to him. On October 21, 2016, the Maple Ridge firefighter said good-bye to his wife Melissa and two beloved children Grace and Calym before heading out for a morning of fishing. But he never made it home. Dennis suffered a massive heart attack and never regained consciousness, leaving his family and community in shock and grief.

Now we are asking for your help in supporting his young children with a scholarship fund. Dennis was only 42 years old and leaves behind a huge hole that can never be replaced. But we can make it a little easier by ensuring Melissa doesn't have to worry about their financial future.

Dennis wore his heart on his sleeve, and always had a huge smile on his face. He was the first to jump in when someone needed a hand. That's why his chosen career as a firefighter was the perfect fit.

He didn't do anything halfway. He fiercely protected those he loved and fought hard for what he believed was right. When Grace was diagnosed with a fatal kidney disease and required a kidney transplant in 2010, there was no question Dennis would donate his kidney to save his daughter's life.

And in his death, this hero continues to give selflessly. His liver, lungs, corneas, remaining kidney, and other tissues will go on to give new life to ten recipients, exactly what Dennis would have wanted.

Thank you for all your love and support.
