This campaign is raising funds for the first Marquesha Babers Storytellers Fund administered by GetLit to be awarded to Marquesha Babers, a poet and a role model. We can support her on her rise and help other young storytellers rise up, too.
Some context: Marquesha presented a spoken word piece at the ONE Aya Summit in DC, a poem inspired by the documentary film Girl Rising. She was then intereviewed by Holly Gordon, Campaign Founder / Executive Producer of Girl Rising. During that interview, Marquesha revealed that she didn't have a place to live.
After speaking with Holly and some of her team as well as the founder of Get Lit teen literacy program, we put into motion a fund (administed through Get Lit) to support Marquesha and hopefully - in the future - other talented teens like her.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly to supporting Marquesha and to help establish a permanent fund.
