Courtney Lesher Werts hasn't added a story.
The Powell Moms Group had a wonderful and dear member, Amy Hartman,
who lost her 5 year battle to cancer in early September this year. Amy
was diagnosed with colon cancer in her 9th month of pregnancy with her
only child Addie in 2009. Unfortunately, the cancer spread to her
liver. In an effort to stop the spread, Amy underwent major surgery in
2013 to remove her gallbladder and spleen. She continued treatment but
sadly lost her courageous battle.
Amy was an avid scrapbooker. She was so passionate about
scrapbooking that many friends said she was recording everything for
Addie knowing she would not be there to reminisce with her. Addie is
continuing in her mom's footsteps by preserving all her memories of
her mommy through scrapbooking.
Amy’s incredible strength to cope with the inevitable was truly
amazing. Despite her own struggles, Amy cared for and gave to everyone
around her. Her main concerns were Addie and Scott, but she was also
worried about her parents. Amy was always concerned with their needs
even when when she had so much going on with her own health struggles
and personal needs. It is undeniable Amy was always giving
whenever/wherever she could. Amy’s kindness was truly remarkable and
we are so fortunate to have known a remarkable wife, mother, daughter,
and friend.
As her friends, we are asking you to keep Amy’s memory alive by
giving back. Specifically, we are asking you to give to her daughter's
future in Amy’s honor. All money that is raised will go to Addie's
College fund. Amy would have been over the moon just knowing friends,
family, and strangers would remember her through the support of
raising money for her sweet daughter’s college fund.
Addie is an active and sweet 5 year old. She loves painting,
coloring, and of course the movie Frozen:) She says she wants to be a
doctor when she grows up. Maybe because she has spent many hours
visiting hospitals and watching Doctors help those in need as well as
seeing her daddy and home nurses take care of her mom over the past 5
years. Lastly, Addie loves to visit the zoo and vacation at Hilton
Head as these are special places she went with her mommy. Visiting
these fun places often, will certainly bring back enjoyable memories
for sweet Addie for years to come.
We are asking you to please take a moment and donate to Addie’s
future college fund. With a huge part of her life missing and most
recently turned upside down, raising money for Addie’s college is one
thing The Powell Mom’s Club can do to give back and alleviate this
burden for the family. By getting Addie started with a college fund,
together we can take away a little worry from this amazing little girl
and make her mother, Amy, a proud momma! Thank you so much for your
consideration and donation. The family will appreciate your kindness
more than you will ever know!
