WHO: The Sheridan High School Baseball & Softball programs are looking for charitable donations from Sheridan Alumni, local businesses, and community supporters of Sheridan Athletics to improve and upgrade our baseball and softball facilities.

WHAT: Our 2 programs are hoping to raise enough money to make our baseball & softball facilities among the best in the league. The improvement projects we hope to complete for both fields are:

1) Professionally leveled infields, with proper drainage systems

2) Construction of two new dugouts, and a new pressbox

3) Construction of a new storage facilty (at the field locations)

WHY: Compared to the other athletic facilities at Sheridan High School, the baseball and softball fields have never undergone any major renovations or improvements since the first Generals baseball team played on the same field in 1961. Other than now having a grass infield, the field, dugouts, & storage buildings look almost exactly as they did 50 years ago!  

- The INFIELDS of both diamonds have never been professionally crowned, or leveled. Currently they are the roughest infields in the MVL. Both fields lack of a proper draingage system leads to numerous, unnecessary game cancellations each spring, even after very minimal rainfalls. Many times we are forced to cancel home games, while all other area schools are still able to play games on their fields. In addition, the Sheridan baseball field sits at the lowest level of all our school property, causing it to collect high volumes of water from the surrounding areas. 

- The current baseball DUGOUTS and PRESSBOX are original structures built in the 1960's. The Visitor's dugout is cement block. The Home dugout was also cement block, until it had to be covered with metal siding when it began break apart several years ago. The softball dugouts are very small and narrow, limiting the number of players that can occupy them at one time. Girls are often forced to stand outside the dugouts during games because there is not enough room, or they are filled with water.

- Neither of the current 2  STORAGE SHEDS at the baseball field are waterproof. And the softball field has no storage shed at all. The lack of a storage building results in valuable team equipment, and field maintenance supplies having to be stored at other locations, not readily available at the fields. This creates daily inconveniences when prepping the fields for games and practices.

 Successes of both programs:

The GENERALS BASEBALL teams have won 15 or more games 8 times since 2003. Including three 20-win seasons, and two 19-win seasons. In that span, the Generals Baseball teams have captured 4 Muskingum Valley League titles, and 5 Sectional Championships!

The GENERALS SOFTBALL teams have been equally successful. Since 2003, Sheridan Softball teams have won 15 or more games 9 times. This includes three 20-win seasons, 3 Muskingum Valley League titles, 3 District titles, and 6 Sectional Championships! 

It is our hope, that enough funds can eventually be raised so that we can have a baseball/softball complex that is equal to the other Sheridan Athletic facilities.
