4 Years running

On Sunday, June 22nd 2014, in the early hours of the evening, Zach's Dad was cooking dinner and just as the water began to boil, Zach came running in as Dad was removing the pot of boiling water from the stove. Zach tried to reach up to the stove and the pot of boiling water was accidentally spilled all down Zach’s face and torso.

It has been a very difficult time for the DeCouto family. Zach has suffered first, second and third degree burns on 25% of his body. He requires regular trips from Ladysmith, every 2 to 3 days to the burn clinic in Victoria at the Royal Jubilee Hospital to closely monitor and treat the burns, with regular dressing changes. Zach will also require plastic surgery to help the areas that have deep second degree burns.

The DeCouto's currently live in Ladysmith, BC, Canada and are on a single family income. This is presenting a great financial challenge to the family as they are required to drive over 90KM one-way for treatment at RJH. They also have two older boys, who are 10 & 11, and they have been required to come to all visits since we have no alternative for care and the Husband cannot take the time off work.

The DeCouto's desperately need help with funds for gas, food, and parking while we are traveling back and forth to Victoria. They also could use help to put the older boys in a week day camp, so they are not required to come to appointments.

Any small contribution would be so greatly appreciated as it will help with the current travelling costs and any future unforeseen costs related to Zachary's injuries and surgeries."
