No matter where you met Jim Bobo Richardson, you came away with a strong sense of the kind of man he is...honest, kind, patriotic and most of all, a devoted Christian.

You may have met Jim in a war zone during his military service as a Marine during the Vietnam War. Possibly in character as Bobo the Clown during his rodeo days. Maybe you met him while working on the movie Urban Cowboy. Or perhaps you were lucky enough to have gone to school with him while he attended Travis, Hogg Jr. High or Reagan Sr. High. Regardless of where you met him, there is no doubt you will remember him as a good friend.

His presence alone leaves others inspired to push themselves out of their comfort zones and to work harder to make the world a better place. You get the feeling that Jim has never met a challenge he didn’t take on 110%.

Jim inspires us all.

In the past few months, we have seen Jim handle a great deal of personal hardship with this cancer diagnosis and surgery. He has endured this challenge with the same dignity and faith with which he endured the other challenges in his life.

Always willing to give of himself for the benefit of others, Jim is the first to get involved, send words of encouragement and to donate his time and effort to those in need.

He bravely told us all about his cancer story, the struggles and the triumphs, and left us all feeling motivated to do more, give more and live better.

Always willing to lend a helping hand, now Jim is the one in need and he needs our help!

The cancer treatment and follow up treatments have been devastatingly expensive. We all know Jim to be a very proud man who is reluctant to ask for financial assistance. Due to the intensive nature of his care, the medical bills are mounting quickly.

In Jim’s own words:

“Well, I got the news today! I will have to undergo radiation treatments next week, 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week for 9 weeks (45) treatments. I go to VA Hospital in Big Springs on Monday to get a Shingles Vaccination, prior to my Radiation treatments. I'm proud to be a Veteran. The Shingles vaccination alone would cost me out of pocket almost $300.00. I have to come up with $1,850.00 already for my radiation treatments, so I used a down payment of my SSI monthly income of $721.00. I'm grateful to have a landlord as a friend who waived my rent for this month. God is Good”

This is only the beginning of the devastating costs.

After much prodding, Jim has agreed to a fundraising effort. The funds raised will go toward his medical bills and living expenses.

As we all know, cancer is dangerous. Please let's rally together to help one of our own.

I know everyone will not be able to contribute, but your help is desperately needed. We need you to get the word out and share this campaign with everyone that you know!
