For the last few weeks I have struggled to find a way to word this. My hesitance stems only from the fact that it is difficult for me to ask for help and yet that is exactly what I must do here…I will try to condense a complicated story into a brief, sincere appeal.

On December 17th, 2012, I was unjustly terminated from a job I had fallen in love with, was really good at, and would have never left if given my choice.

I lost my job due to a medical condition, while under physician’s care.

My condition is defined as a disability under the American’s with Disabilities Act, and as such my former employer was required to engage in the interactive process to determine if a reasonable accommodation could be made. They chose to not do what was legally required of them, and disregarded both verbal and written notification of my condition.

Why would they ignore a federally mandated legal requirement? It’s simple. They are big, they are powerful, and they are a “public entity” which truly believes it is untouchable. I am not the first victim of their arrogance, but I refuse to be what they are expecting me to be – an insignificant individual who will go away quietly.

For the past year I have been represented by Judy Snyder in a manner which has done nothing but serve to reinforce my credibility.

My union President recommended her because of her experience and success rate against my former employer. Following our first meeting, and after reviewing documentation that is very favorable to my claim, Judy decided to take my case based on CONTINGENCY.

This means I have a highly successful and widely respected attorney representing me at no cost. She will not get a dime if she does not win this battle on my behalf. Judy is ready to take the gloves off and move forward with bare fists, gambling her valuable time on the merits of my case.

But the responsibility of covering filing fees, court reporter costs for depositions, and general documentation copying / requisitioning fees has now fallen on my shoulders – having the plaintiff (me) cover fees is common practice once a case is set to become a full-blown lawsuit. It is also the breaking point for many people in their efforts to seek justice.

This is where I need your help… My former employer is counting on me not being able to fight back.

Please help me in my effort to disappoint them.

I am ready, willing, and prepared to dive into this fight – a fight which promises to run me through an emotional meat grinder for probably another year. But it is a fight I believe worthwhile. If we can hit them hard enough, then maybe my former employer will think twice about pulling the same thing in the future.

This really is a battle between an “insignificant individual” and a powerful giant…

If you have questions, need more details, or would like proof of my situation, please feel free to contact me and I will oblige your request so long as my actions do not cross the boundaries of confidentiality or go against the advice of my attorney.

Please know that if you decide to help me, no matter how small or how great, you have my deepest gratitude. Your generosity means more than I could ever possibly say…
