So many people have been touched by Kellie Gundling over her career and life. Kellie is a role model of what great leaders, managers and friends do. She has impacted so many of us with her calm, kind, honest, humorous and sincere style and personality.
- In 2007 Kellie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was initially given little hope. The fighter Kellie is, sought other medical professionals who would take an aggressive treatment approach. Thus began Kellie's long fight with this horrible disease.
- After enduring the surgical removal of a lobe of her lung, Kellie then fought with aggressive Chemo and radiation therapies.
- In 2009, during a divorce, Kellie discovered the cancer had moved to her brain. Whole brain radiation and targeted radiation was done over the next 2 years.
- Kellie faced this new health battle alone, with her two children(10 and 16) at home. As treatment continued Kellie experienced trouble walking due to the treatment itself. The mobility issues required outpatient physical therapy.
- In 2011 the brain lesions began growing again and cancer was found in Kellie’s right lung as opposed to the previous left lung site that had been treated. This brought on a new round of oral chemotherapy that continues currently.
- In 2011 Kellie had to downsize her home as she was no longer able to work full time and after COBRA ended, Kellie went on the Texas high risk insurance pool. This insurance has a very expensive monthly premium as well as having very high annual deductibles and co pays.
- Just recently (11/20/13), Kellie was admitted to St. Like’s Baptist in San Antonio hospital due to edema on the brain (water causing pressure that caused her good leg to not work). A week on the medical unit while on high doses of steroids started draining the pressure. She then transferred to the Acute Rehab Unit at St. Luke’s on 11/27 and was just discharged home on 12/27 with orders for more therapy until she can be safe.
- Kellie is now at home with physical therapy with her daughter who is now a freshman in high school (15) and her son a junior in college (21).
- Kellie has medical and personal savings accounts that have been dwindled to a point of serious concern due to the very high medical costs, insurance premiums, high-co-pays and uncovered services she requires to manage her daily life tasks.
- Give up, not Kellie. Kellie is a true inspiration and a miracle to all who know her.
Denis, Richard and Sherry are asking you for your GENEROUS financial help for Kellie. Nobody should have to face difficult or impossible financial choices. You can make a difference and your help is needed. Please choose the “DONATE” link on this page to make a contribution to Kellie that will go 100% to her health care needs and expenses. Please be generous … healthcare is the leading reason for personal bankruptcy. Nobody should face that situation.
If you have been touched by Kellie in your life … if you know others who have been touched by Kellie, pass this Facebook page / link along to them. Denis, Richard and Sherry thank you for your generosity and help.
