Save the Monsons from foreclosure

My parents have lived in their house for 22 years and they never missed a mortgage payment until my dad lost his job in the crash of 2008. He had a stroke in the end of 2009 and then a major heart attack (with 4-way bypass) in February 2011. He is now on disability, but my mom lost her job 18 months ago, so they are living solely on my dad's disability check. Their neighborhood has been hit hard by the economic crash and there have been four other foreclosures on their block in the past three years.

My parents are getting help from Occupy Our Homes and someone from that organization is trying to negotiate with Citimortgage to get their mortgage payment reduced to an amount that they can afford. They just want to continue to pay off their mortgage as they did before the economic and health crises all hit one after the other.

I'm hoping that Citimorgage will be more willing to reduce their payment if we can get my parents caught up on their payments. Citimorgage won't lose as much money this way and my parents won't lose their house. It's a win win for both parties.

Any donations recieved in excess of our goal will be put in escrow to help with future payments. Thank you for your donation!
