Gentle Giants Rescue & Sanctuary rescued these six precious Great Pyrenees puppies after being contacted by a breeder with no funds to care for them. The breeder reported the puppies have an infection of some sort with an extremely foul smell. They had been living in a deep den the mother had dug in the dirt since birth. Gentle Giants rushed in to save these babies and advised the breeder to take them to an emergency vet ASAP and agreed to be responsible for the charges, etc. The breeder dug them out and took them to the vet as advised. The vet determined all six puppies have a severe bacterial infection on their paws, ears and tails. They were given an antibiotic injection and oral Amoxicillin was prescribed as well as a topical cream and prescription cleanser. The source or cause of infection was undetermined. The puppies were removed from the mother. Charge for this vet visit was $349.

The breeder surrendered the six puppies Gentle Giants to insure they would be properly treated, vetted and cared for.  They were immediately taken to a foster to be cleaned with prescription cleanser bottle-fed. Two of the puppies are very small and weak, but they were all VERY happy to eat!

10/17 
Puppies are eating well and the two puny ones seem to be a little better although they have less energy and do not play as much as the others. They have had loose, smelly stools today and we are concerned there may be something else going on. The foster is taking all 6 puppies to the vet first thing in AM for testing.  As of this morning, the Rescue’s bank account is overdrawn. We are caring for other needs dogs as well as these 6 precious puppies.  PLEASE HELP US GIVE THESE PUPPIES A FIGHTING CHANCE!  These puppies need funds NOW. ☹
