Family & Friend –

For years I have written many letters asking for the support of organizations and their causes.  Today, I write a letter asking you to support my cause and my journey to becoming the first black certified Master Chef in the world. 

I’ve worked very hard these past 9 months and all of my hard work has lead me to receiving the opportunity to go to Spain and work for an entire year at the 3 star Michelin rated restaurant, Azurmendi. This coveted externship speaks to the commitment I have in creating and celebrating beautiful and wonderfully tasting food.

Although this opportunity has presented itself, it also presents a few challenges. Because I am a US citizen, I am unable to earn an income in Spain while I am there; therefore, my externship is unpaid. This is why I am seeking your help.  I leave for my externship on January 19, 2014.  I have a goal of reaching $25,000 before I leave for my externship. These will be the funds I use to live off of for the entire year. Any contribution towards that goal would be greatly appreciated.  For those that contribute towards this cause, my wonderful rock star parents, John & Deanna, and my very best friend & sister, Mechelle, will help me to host “lights bites gathering” where I will showcase what I have learned in Spain.
