Chris was assigned to the 706th EOD unit in Afghanistan when he was struck by an IED on the evening of April 24th, 2012. He was thrown 30 feet by a blast that was designed to take out armored vehicles. His resulting injuries included the loss of both arms, one above the elbow & one below, as well as his entire left leg. His facial bones were shattered, which required a metal plate to repair. Both eye muscles had to be reattached and he will always have a small piece of frag in his eye. Bits of bone & rock remain embedded in his face/ears & will be repaired at a future date when they also rebuild his ear drums. This is a partial list of his injuries, but he continues to stay upbeat during the long road to recovery. This fund is set up to help Chris on his journey of recovery and also the journey of his life after he has left Rehab. This money goes directly to Chris and he is in control of every aspect. Thank you to everyone!!!!!! He is currently at Walter Reed National Military Base in Bethesda, Maryland. These Donations go directly into The Christopher Walker Fund at the First National Bank in Altavista, VA through Paypal.
