We have an opportunity to save our home from foreclosure, if we can file bankruptcy by December 3rd. We have a lawyer willing to do it for $1300, one time fee, which is absolutely on the low end of pricing for this kind of thing, but we don’t have that much in accounts (and still need to replace an alternator on our car). 

I (Jamie) am currently fighting for Social Security, and my partner Raye is studying computer science. This bankruptcy declaration would give us a critical grace period, stalling or stopping the foreclosure for up to five years or until we can get ourselves back on our feet.

I have had this house 11 years and payments are far, far lower than rent would be, so keeping is best financially for our lives.
