We are looking for help getting back to a debt free situation.
A little over 1.5 years ago we decided it was time to purchase a new home that would benefit our daughter's medical needs and therapy needs. While trying to sell our house; we discovered mold in our windows and doors. Since this is unsafe for anyone; it made it impossible to sell our house and made it necessary to purchase an entire house full of windows and doors. This post-poned our ability to move because the crew who installed the windows and doors unfortanitly did it incorrectly which caused drafts, house damage, and other issues that would have affected the sale price of our home making it impossible to move to our dream home.
While we would love to say that we enjoy these windows and doors; we don't because since they have been installed those windows also had mold damage due to improper installation and needed to be replaced a second time. We have been having the company come back out constantly to fix what they continue to break. I am hopeful that they may have fixed the leaks; however there is still more work to do on the house due to the damage that was caused during and after installation and a huge bill that needs to be paid before we can think about getting our medically complex child into a house that fits her medical needs.
Check out her heart service dog isn't she cute!! This cute puppy has been with us since 6 weeks of age to alert us if there is a variation in my little one's heart beats that the medical equipment may not pick up or takes longer to pick up.
On top of the repair bills; we have also incurred countless medical bills in this time frame from traveling back and forth to needed medical appointments. Our daughter has DiGeorge Syndrome (22q11.2 Deletion) which caused a multi-part heart defect called Tetrology of Fallot, as well as many other complex medical issues. She will require constant monitoring and doctor care for the rest of her life
The stress of travel expenses & medical bills and now the house repair bills has been unmeasurable in this last year and half; so we are reaching out for help.
I am a stay at home mom; and to help decrease the debt load; I have started reselling vintage and antique items (as well as other things that are hanging around the house). This is helping; however; it is a slow moving process. I currently have an online store and have found a local consignment store that I will be bringing items to (Jan 20th). All the money that is received from sales of both the online store and consignment store are going directly to paying off the monies owed. Our fundraising goal is only a quarter of what we actually owe for the windows and doors; however; even asking for help with this amount is difficult for us as we have always tried to be self sufficient and live within our means.
We are a family who loves to help others in every way that we can; and the burden of the bills we have had to take on is hindering our ability to help more people now and in the future until our immediate needs are met.
Our promise to anyone and everyone that is able to help is that we will put every penny received towards our medical debt and house repair bill. Once we have succeeded this goal (and before) we will pay it forward any and every time that we are able now and in the future.
Some of the ways we have helped in the past: supplying food to the food bank; clothing & toys to women's shelters; clothing, toys, money, and food to foster parents; money to Hope Kids; transportation to and from medical appointments; food to families in need; gifts during the holiday season; and winter clothing to our local drives (we collect winter jackets, hats, gloves and more during the year).
