Snow White, our little miracle, lived the first years of her
life in a large cat colony in a suburb of Athens. During a
sterilization operation in this cat colony, Snow White entered the
cat trap and so we took her to the vet for sterilization. There we
were informed that her breathing was not normal and so after an
x-ray she was diagnosed with a septal hernia. Cause most likely a
blow from a car or a kick from a human.

er abdomen was all displaced inside her chest ... even a part of
her colon. Her heart had shifted to the right.
Snow White suffered from severe shortness of breath and she was
in pain.
The veterinarian informed us that the only solution to the
problem would be surgery, but with great danger. Although the
chances of not succeeding were many, we decided to proceed with the
surgery as a last chance for her to have a normal life.
Snow White did everything to stay alive. She managed to wake up
from the surgery and while in the following days she suffered twice
pulmonary edema reaching almost death, she managed again to remain alive.
Taking her home, we faced an extremely frightened creature who
was looking at us full of terror and suspicion. Five whole months
later, with a lot of effort and patience, we managed to gain her
trust and love. She allowed us to get to know her sweet and tender
side of her character and to give her what she had been missing for
so long, Inexhaustible love and security.
Unfortunately, her suffering did not end there. All of a sudden,
a month ago she stopped eating and began to hide inside the house.
We took her immediately to the vet where after many blood tests and
ultrasounds she was diagnosed with active infectious peritonitis.
The disease has mainly affected her liver. She developed jaundice
and refused to eat anything. For those who know this disease without
treatment leads directly to death..
Talking to the vet and looking for any solution we were led to
the decision to start the only treatment available for infectious
peritonitis, GS-441524 injections. We have almost
closed a month of treatment having Snow White at home, with
permanent serotherapy, antibiotics and vitamins and we now see a
noticeable improvement in her health as her liver function gradually
returns to normal.
Unfortunately, the treatment has unbearable cost. Especially
for us who take care of a large number of animals. Each bottle of
medicine covers 5 days and costs 65 euros. The treatment to lead
to a cure must last 3 months.. Any interruption may lead to
relapse. If we include the blood tests and the hospitalizations
that Snow White has needed, the expenses for the 3 months will
exceed 1500 euros.
Every little help from anyone who can understand our position is
valuable and can make a difference. We will do everything to save
our fighter..
After all, her eyes, her courage and her patience, assure us
every day that we are doing the right thing.
