The mission of the Gordon Owino Heart Foundation is to provide Hope, Care, and Support services to children and families affected by congenital heart defects. The Gordon Owino Heart Foundation has partnered with Sarah Liebenrood, a consultant for Usborne Books & More to raise money to fill a library of books for pediatric patients in the CVICU and the neurodevelopment clinic at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Congenitial Heart disease is the number 1 birth defect in our country. Some of these children will have developmental delays, learning disabilities and other special needs. We want to provide books to support these families with their literacy needs during this difficult time in their lives. 

We are asking for donations to provide a book or two to each newborn when they transfer to CVICU and for children in the neurodevelopment clinic. These children range in age from newborns to 11 years old. Each year, Levine sees about 400 patients in this particular unit. 

We know the joy that books can bring to children and the comfort and bonding that reading with children allows. We would love to be able to fund this library to support those families at Levine Hospital.
