Dear Beautiful People
As you know, my 17 year old rescue kitty Reece had a diabetic attack on Tuesday 6th October when Lukas and I were in Austria for a short holiday. He threw up, lost all control of his bowel movements, collapsed and couldn’t stand up anymore.
Luckily my amazing cat sitter was quick and got him into a taxi and rushed him off to the Animal Hospital in Reinickendorf Berlin where he is currently being treated. When we spoke to the vet on the phone on Tuesday just after it happened, she said he was in very bad shape and could die so Lukas and I got off the mountain we had started to climb, packed up and drove 10 hours through the night to get back in the hope that we could say goodbye to our little fur baby.
We had fully prepared ourselves that Reece might die before we got there so we were overjoyed when we arrived at 2:30am to find he was still alive and although disoriented a lot better than he had been. When he arrived at the clinic after he collapsed his temperature was dangerously low so they used a warming blanket to raise his temperature as well as giving him medicine by the mouth and IV fluids. Reece has diabetes and the medication was correct but apparently things can change very quickly so this was just an accident and not the fault of the cat sitter or us. Hopefully I will have more information about this condition soon so we can make sure this doesn’t happen again.

Right now Reece is still in the hospital but he was able to come home overnight last night. He is back there today (Thursday) having his blood taken every 4 hours and they will call us later this evening. Hoping he can come home forever tonight!
