Dear friends and people from all over the world,
we are in Greece, in a beautiful village called Mirtos.
The one thing that is less beautiful, is that some people from outside just come to the village and abandon their pets. Many times they leave their puppies or young dogs here. And even if there are some really amazing people and a relly good shelter in the surrounding area that try help the strays and the abandoned, it`s simply too much and some of them don`t find a place to live.
And also this one was not lucky until now. 6 weeks ago we found him near the garbage bins and he was confused running up and down the street. His ears were bleeding and he was scared!
It turned out that he is a really friendly, amazing dog. Slowly he tried to get in contact with people, but nobody could give him a home. So for more than a month he was around and we started to get worried about him:
He got bitten by another dog and had to go to a vet.
He started to adapt to other stray dogs and copied them. This ended up in chasing kids on bikes. People might accept this from a small dog, but not from a big one! It was getting dangerous.
He doesn`t really understand that cars can hurt him. Many times we saw him almost getting hit by a truck.
For 6 weeks now we tried to find a way to help him. He likes to sleep in our backyard and he stays with us all the time. We would like to give him a home as he wants to belong anyway. He started to trust us, we brought him to the vet, we treat his wound and we tought him not to chase bikes or cars anymore. Just, he can`t come into our house as we have already two dogs and and a baby. Another dog of this size doesn`t fit inside.
So we decided to do it like this:
If we get a fence, he can stay! A proper fence costs some money and we can`t afford this so easily. Many people give 1000 Euro or more for a purebred dog!
Maybe there are some willing to spend a much smaller amount just to help a dog that hasn`t been so lucky until now.
We would be very happy about it because he is a really really good dog that is simply not taken in by anybody cause he is too big! We didn`t want him either in the beginning but he is just a really good guy and if it`s possible, we will help him now!
We calculated now with 60 meters of fence. One meter is around 15 Euro for the materials. The work will be done by ourselves. The amount of 1000 Euro is calculated a bit higher to be sure.
If there is money left, it will go to the local animal help organisations.
Love from Greece,
Sarah
Unsere Idee:
eure Sarah
