We are a team of Usborne Books consultants and we are raising money for a book drive to benefit Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse. I, Leslie, was drawn to do this as I myself spent 12 years in an abusive marriage with children. Leaving was the hardest and most transformative thing I ever did. I will be personally donating my commission this week on Wednesday.
Emerge is the largest domestic abuse organization serving southern Arizona. They provide holistic care from education and prevention of domestic abuse, to a multi-lingual hotline, to transitional housing, to lay legal services.
At Usborne Books and More we carry over 1,800 titles that are beautiful, engaging, educational, entertaining, and heart-warming.
Books are a wonderful way to teach children. We can teach them emotional intelligence, reduce anxiety about new experiences, create empathy for people and situations very different from their own, and build connection between those reading together.
A home library is also a direct predictor in a child's lifetime education level and is equal to the parent's education level. We recognize this, and so Usborne will match your donation at 50% as well as provide free shipping. We will then package and deliver the books to Emerge! for the families to enjoy together and take with them in the next chapter of their lives, free from abuse! All books chosen will be free from self-improvement, violence, and religious themes.
