Gregory McCalium hasn't added a story.

Hi, my name is Greg.

On January 18th my ex partner sent me a photo of our newly born son. Then ceased all communication. It emerged that he had been born the day before and that she made the decision not to inform me she was in labor. Upon (eventually) finding out which hospital she was in i rushed over to meet my son to be told by staff she was refusing to let me see him. Even my mother (his Grandmother) who was with me at the time, was not permitted to meet her Grandson.

It should be pointed out that although we broke up before this we were on speaking terms and this was completely unexpected, not to mention morally and ethically wrong.

In the weeks that have followed I have only seen my son on a few occasions and each occasion is harder and harder to organize with my sons mother being more and more difficult every day. She refuses to let me have time alone with him and have him for over night stays and I can barley see him for longer than a few hours a week if I am lucky.

As well as this, I am unsure if/when he has been registered, if my name is on the birth certificate, where he and his mother currently live, what his name is or indeed if the DOB is indeed what I’ve been told it is. Unfortunately my sons mother is not the most reliable source of information.

At this point you may be thinking 'well she must have a good reason to keep you at arms length!' Well, unfortunately not. This campaign isn’t about her behavior towards me or how I was treated in the relationship so for that reason i do not want to start on the reasons why her behavior in regards to my son is unfounded and horrifically undeserved. Instead my focus is solely to secure regular and quality contact.

The legal process has been started however it is very very expensive and will no doubt (knowing my sons mother) be dragged out for a long period of time. As such I REALLY REALLY need any help I can get.

As someone who values hard work and my independence I find this very hard to ask for charity, however I have come to the realization that I must swallow my pride for the sake of my son and more his right to have a father than mine in being one. I want my son to have the best opportunity in life and what I can offer him as a father is just as important as what can be offered to him by his mother.

As you can probably guess there is much to the previous relationship and ongoing situation that I have not mentioned. but like I have said (and i cant stress enough) I am not and never will be the kind of person to air someone’s personal attacks on me or the actions they have taken in order to further my goal. I see that as irrelevant, childish and unethical. instead my focus is getting shared custody of my child as previously agreed, and to ensure my son has a father.

That being said if I come under fire as I have done in the past with unfounded and outlandish accusations from the other side of this situation, rest assured I will defend myself.

Any help and support that you can offer is really appreciated. I will be forever in your debt and my son will thank you. You will be helping make a man who has always dreamed of being a father have his dream finally come true.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this

One love
