At age 32 Charles Hawley, “my brother” was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. It all happen too soon, and the cancer was discovered in it’s forth stage. The forth stage is the end of the Colon Cancer process. Initially a foot of his colon was removed and no more cancer was found in his colon. Yet he still had 20 small tumors on his liver. Now a year later he has completed his chemo and was taken off his medication for what was expected to be good news, surgery. The surgery would remove the shrunken tumors found on his liver. Upon following up with the oncologist and the leading surgeon we were told that the tumors on Charlie’s liver had grown larger and stronger in size. My brother Charlie also was informed that his cancer was now inside his lymph nodes. Now Charlie is trying to hold on, as our faith in God has strengthened in many prayers. Yet our hearts are blistered in pain and weakened due to such a finding. We do keep in mind that if asked of God, and our faith is true, than we shall receive. But we also know that God may be calling Charlie home. My brother does not have insurance and his only means of income comes from his SSI. It doesn’t seem fair at heart or in our faith to say that "a funeral for my brother my mom and I may have to plan". But this fundraiser stands for such the purpose. If for any reason doubts may occur, all are welcome to email with the request for documentations on my brothers most recent condition. marthamejia@email.grcc.edu
