Hi, my name is Robert Privett. I organize the Main Street Vinyl Record Fair as well as the Vinyl Record Donation and Recycling
Program in Vancouver.
The donation program and the vinyl fair work together to raise
money for music-related non-profits in Vancouver such as CiTR
Community Radio, Safe Amplification Society and Girls Rock Camp Vancouver.
We collect record donations year-round, store them until fair
time and then sell them at the fair. The program raised $4500 in its
first year and in March 2014 the donation program became a member of
the Recycling Council of British Columbia. Read

Organizing the program made one thing clear - vinyl record storage
is a huge problem.
With an excess of 15,000 records donated in the first year,
the program was in need of a sustainable storage solution. We needed
great record storage and we needed it for an even better price. But
finding few viable options on the market and no local storage
companies to sponsor our program, we decided, heck with it, we'll make
our own storage!
By developing our own storage solutions for the vinyl program
and then providing our products to local record stores, we will be
able to financially support the recycling program for years to come
AND direct 100% of record sales to our non-profits.
