Two weeks before she passed away, Marlene Edwards, age 51, took her fear of flying and turned into the DREAM, the only item on her bucket list. Marlene flew on her first flight to visit her eldest daughter in Washington, DC... More ...

Marlene Edwards, the 12th child of 14 and mother of 7 has always made family her priority. She served within her community as an activist, educator, leader, dreamer and phenomenal woman. Marlene was well-known for her wisdom, positive personality, influential spirit and great home cooking.

Marlene was a selfless woman and an exceptional mother. She was always willing to help those in need.

A village was created through her love, support, openness and belief in Christ. Marlene lived her life unapologetically, while inspiring the lives of others. Even today, memories are described with great significance and forever inscribed in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Two weeks before she passed away, Marlene Edwards, age 51, took her fear of flying and turned into the DREAM, the only item on her bucket list.  Marlene flew on her first flight to visit her eldest daughter in Washington, DC.  Post her return to Chicago, Marlene was excited and ready to start her new bucket list.  Unfortunately, Marlene never got to make that list.  Saturday, December 7, 2014, Marlene answered God’s call and accepted her wings to join his army of angels.

In memoriam of a SUPER woman and legend, we are establishing The Marlene Edwards Humanitarian Scholarship.
