SPARC (more info on SPARC) communicates with many comrades inside the Virginia prison system. Comrade Outlaw has been one of our dearest and most respected comrades since we began as an organization.
Having been imprisoned since he was 19, Comrade Outlaw is only one of many Virginia prisoners who grew up during the height of the US drug wars and the intense violence occuring everyday here in Richmond, Virginia.
Living in conditions of abject poverty forced many individuals, like Comrade Outlaw, into a struggle for survival, playing into the hands of the State's efforts to expand the prison system and warehouse countless black proletarians.
During his time in the Virginia prison system Comrade Outlaw became heavily politicized in collaboration with fellow comrade, and Minister of Defense of the New Afrikan Black Panther Party - Prison Chapter, Kevin Rashid Johnson. This relationship culminated in the influental book "Defying The Tomb", covering the exchanges between both comrades dealing with life and the necessity of revolution.
Since then, Comrade Outlaw has continued his writings, covering the history of the Virginia prison system and analyzing the roles of race and patriarchy as integral aspects of the prison system and the capitalist system.
Please help us help him. It is all too common for prisoners upon release to be excluded from society, finding no home, no job, no resources or help. Such a politically-advanced person deserves assistance from us. An investment in Comrade Outlaw is an investment in the revolutionary movement.
