Ishbel MacNicol was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Alexandra in Paisley on Monday 4th November 2013 after a brief unknown cause for her illness.  Staff there fought endlessly to save her life but she sadly died on Thursday 14th November 2013.

Ishbel was well loved amongst all her family and a good friend to many.  She was a retired nurse who had a great sense of community, supporting local charities and was heavily involved with her local church.   Ishbel in her lifetime touched the lives of so many and is sorely missed.

In her memory, her daughter Lesley Garry, granddaughter Shona Garry and her niece May Marshall are taking part in the 5x50 CAMPAIGN.  This involves walking, running, cycling 5km (or a 30min exercise) for 50 days.

NO MEAN FEAT........  WHY??

WE WOULD LIKE TO CHANNEL THIS HARD TIME OF GRIEF AND SADNESS INTO SOMETHING POSITIVE..

What cannot be forgotten is the exceptional care Ishbel and the family received from the staff whilst in hospital.   So this is why by doing the 5x50 we are fundraising for the ICU in the hope to give a little something back. To aid the continued training and education needs of the staff and allow them to continue to deliver to other families such first class care.

Critical illness and the effects on the patient, their families and friends can happen to anyone when they least expect it.  This is why we need to support these specialist teams who spend their days fighting to save someones loved one.

Please give generously as this will keep us motivated on the hard days and strive to push ourselves...
