Many of us have either asked ourselves or been asked by others... "What do you want to be when you grow up?" For some, they never find out but for others it starts early on with a moment in time that changes their life forever. In the summer of 2010, I took my son Brien and my daughter Piper to an air show at Peterson Air force Base. It was there that Brien got to experience his first encounter with the cockpit of an airplane. Even at the age of 8, the glow in his face and the look in his eye gave it away... He was going to fly. (Below is the picture I believe captured that moment at age 8)

That dream has not only stuck with him but strengthened as time has gone on. He has set a path that he and his family believe will take to him the skies. It starts with Air Camp U.S.A. Located in Dayton Ohio, Air Camp allows for kids interested in math, science and passion for flight to spend a week learning that their dream is attainable with perseverance and dedication. There they will get to conduct experiments related to flight, math and aerodynamics.

The students will meet with NASA scientists, pilots and instructors who have real world military and civilian flight. They will attend an abbreviated flight school and will go up to co-pilot a plane with a pilot instructor! At the conclusion of the week, there's a ceremony at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. They will receive a certificate of completion and a patch to wear proudly on their flight suits.

Brien has demonstrated his dedication to his dream by excelling in math and science. In his spare time, he enjoys any books or movies related to the history of flight and can tell you the name of any WWI or WWII plane. In his last parent/teacher conference, every single one of his teachers, yes, every single teacher, said they enjoyed having him in their class. Many went onto say that he's a natural leader, respecting his peers and elders.

After thoroughly researching Air Camp U.S.A., I'm convinced that this program is designed to not only encourage but instill the confidence these aspiring pilots, flight engineers and enthusiast needs to follow their dream of being the next generation to take to the skies.

Brien has expressed his desire to apply to the United States Air Force Academy after high school. In the meantime, he plans on getting his private pilot’s license at 16. Air Camp will only further provide the encouragement he needs to follow his dreams.

This is where you come in to help support Brien in this path he's set for himself. The week of Air Camp costs $1000. That doesn’t include airfare. I would like to raise enough funds for myself and is sister to attend his graduation. On graduation day when he can look out and see his family there supporting him, it will not only make us all proud but him as well. With family already residing in Dayton, thankfully there no hotel or car rental expenses to consider.

I couldn't be more proud of my son. I promised him I would always support his dreams no matter what career he chose. He strongly believes his calling is in the cockpit of an airplane, so I believe in his calling.

I invite you to visit wwwhttp://www.aircampusa.com to see for yourself the program and what Brien will get to experience during his stay.

Any amount you can donate is appreciated more than you'll ever know. Thank you so much!!
