My Dad and I have been accepted to volunteer with the Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in Belize (British Honduras), Central America for 4 weeks between March and April 2014. Monkey Bay is a not-for-profit education and training center established in 1990. Their mission is to provide academic, experiential learning, and service programs while serving as a model of conservation land Stewardship in Belize.
The main campus is situated within a 1060-acre sanctuary managed for wildlife protection, functioning as a biological corridor linking northern and central Belize protected areas>
There are also two satellite campus locations include Mountain Pine Ridge and South Water Caye Marine Reserve at Tobacco Caye which we hope to assist at too.

This is an opportunity for both of us to donate our time and skills to help this fabulous organisation continue to preserve a large coridoor of land in Belize between two protected nature reserves and with it the plethora of wildlife that uses it or calls it home.

All funds raised will go to Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary to help pay for board and lodgings for volunteers, and cover costs for the projects they are working on.

Over the last 19 years I have volunteered my time to quite a few organisations to help with conservation and community projects. However I have had a special relationship with Belize ever since I went there aged 18 to work on a Government funded conservation project to protect the 2nd largest Barrier Reef in the world and the associated coral atolls. I instantly fell in love with the country, it’s friendly people and amazing beauty. The Belizean government is committed to protecting its natural habitats and resources through proper management rarely seen elsewhere in the world with 2.6 million acres of this small country now protected by law.
