I am riding the London to Brighton route on September the 8th 2013 to raise money for the Amy Woodgate centre where my Nan is a full time resident as she has been diagnosed with dementia.

The term 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning. There are many types of dementia. The most common are Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse.

Amy Woodgate is a brand new purpose built residential and day care resource centre for Dementia situated in the heart of Chessington. The new building was opened in April 2009 and provides residential care for up to 40 permanent residents together with a day care facility for 30, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

I would like to raise some money for the home for their organised day trips that I know the residents really enjoy and massively benefit from. Any extra money will go a long way.

Here is just a selection of the day trips that they organize: http://www.kingston.gov.uk/browse/community_people_and_living/info_for_over_50s/resource_centres_and_houses/amy_woodgate_house/amy_woodgate_activities_events.htm

I appreciate any money that you can spare for this cause, that is very close to my heart.
